Forest+Human
Towerman, Randi & Katrine

Danish artist duo Randi & Katrin, who have been working with objects that take on the form of anthropomorphic houses and site-specific installations that explore the relationship between humans, architecture, and nature with an added twist of fun and light-hearted humor, have created Towerman, a wooden structure over six meters high, based on their cold and complex first impression of downtown Seoul. The Towerman was originally invited to take part in the 2012 Korea Foundation’s special Nordic design exhibition and built in Korea. After finishing its a year and a half long exhibitions in front of skyscrapers in downtown Seoul, it is now becoming a part of as an “accidental traveler.” Although Towerman was designed as an outdoor sculpture in the midst of Seoul's forest of buildings, its installation method was slightly altered for this public art project to fit Sanglim forest's geological specifications.

Towerman by the Danish duo artists Randi & Katrine, is a personification of medieval european architecture. After being exhibited in various exhibitions around Seoul, the latest being in March 2012, Towerman will finally settle down at the entrance of Sanglim Park. The wooden sculpture in the midst of a forest will welcome the visitors and perform the role of the bridge between human and forest.
