Spheres Sanglim - Sound Walk, Jang Minseung+Jung Jaeil

Jang Minseung
lives and works in Seoul
Designing and producing furniture as a hobby was what made Jang Min-seung a furniture designer during his twenties. However, as he enjoyed music more than his major in fine art, he was active in a rock band during his early years and participated in over twenty films as a music coordinator and producer. With Jung Jaeil, whom Jang met during his music activities, Jang has been experimenting capabilities of music as visual art.
In the meanwhile, Jang has shown his work through solo exhibitions, Su Seong Seep Kyung in Art+Lounge Dibang and A Multi-Culture in One and J. Gallery in 2010, which are about observing the cultural context of objects such as architecture or furniture, while maintaining concerns about language of design.

Jung Jaeil
lives and works in Seoul
With his deep comprehension of classical music and traditional Korean music, and outstanding abilities in piano, guitar and bass, Jung Jaeil has released over a hundred albums, and participated in over thirty films and plays as a music producer. He is acknowledged as a young musician without the most musical boundaries, with good command of composing and performance with over a hundred concerts internationally. He has released the albums Tearflower in 2003 and Jung Jaeil in 2010. In 2009, he teamed up with Jazz drummer Kim Check and published the album The Methodologies, making Jung a musician that opened a new horizon in Korean Jazz. Jung is currently experimenting a whole new sensual experience through music with Jang Min-seung. Since 2011, Jang and Jung have been collaborating in creating site-specific installations and projects such as A.Intermission (2009) and a mobile project Spheres I (2011).

The project ‘Spheres Sanglim-Sound Walk’ by Jang Minseung + Jung Jaeil takes place as a collaboration with the Wind Orchestra, which consists of local children and youths of Hamyang. Sanglim forest, the forest in which they play and film the music, contains a thousand years of cherished history. The original score of the music was inspired by the four seasons of the forest. The music and video are shared through the Web. As the subtitle Sound Walk implies, one is invited to walk through the woods where one can play and listen to the music, which was played on spots picked by the artists.
